<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an optical crossconnect with high throughput by performing large-scale switching. <P>SOLUTION: Input optical signal processing parts 11-1 to 11-5 perform wavelength conversion of a WDM signal to be inputted into wavelength which is equal to the number of WDMs of the WDM signal, divides the pulse width of the WDM signal with the number of WDM wavelengths of the WDM signal to perform pulse width compression and performs phase conversion so as not to make a plurality of compression signals to be the same phase. Wavelength switching parts 12-1 to 12-5 are composed of passive optical devices and distribute optical signals processed by the input optical signal processing parts 11-1 to 11-5 to each equal wavelength. Output optical signal processing parts 13-1 to 13-5 recognize a wavelength to be converted from the phase of the optical signal to apply wavelength conversion to the optical signals distributed by the wavelength switching parts 12-1 to 12-5, expand pulsewidth and output WDM signals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
