PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound machine in which timing to start elevating a temperature of a fixing means determined from the viewpoint of shortening a first copy waiting time or of saving energy can be changed while being reflected with user's intention or user's use environment. SOLUTION: The timing to start elevating the temperature of a heater determined from the viewpoint of shortening the first copy waiting time or of saving energy is switched either to an "A mode" of starting elevating the temperature of the heater just after an original sensor detects an original or to a "B mode" of starting elevating the temperature of the heater just after a copy key is pressed, on the basis of the determination of the operating situation (S18) in the past in a facsimile function and a copy function.
