PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave device capable of suppressing the leakage of surface acoustic waves from a comb-like electrode. SOLUTION: The surface acoustic wave device has: a piezoelectric substrate 10; a first comb-like electrode 11 which is formed on the piezoelectric substrate 10 and of which the plurality of first comb-like electrode fingers 11b extend from a first bus bar 11a; and a second comb-line electrode 12 which is formed on the piezoelectric substrate 10 and of which the plurality of second comb-like electrode fingers 12b extend among the first electrode fingers 11b from a second bus bar 12a. The periodic structure of the surface acoustic waves of the piezoelectric board 10 generated by the first electrode fingers 11b and the second electrode fingers 12b to the traveling direction of the surface acoustic wave is formed in the first bus bar 11a.
