PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate a processing time even if the amount of processing such as scientific technology computation or design analysis simulation varies greatly in a program processing time estimation method. SOLUTION: A computer system for scientific technology computation, design analysis simulation or the like is used to estimate a processing time by the following procedure. Input contents are checked, and some key data influencing the processing time are defined about every piece of software. Commands, input data, an execution time and the like of each executed job are registered. Such items are compared with executed data so that degrees of similarity are calculated in values. Registered data are retrieved, and the input data contents and job execution database contents are compared so that an estimated processing time is calculated. Processing time calculating means 410 compare the key data defined in a software database 510 between the input data contents and the retrieved data contents to estimate the time necessary for input data processing according to the data of the highest degree of similarity.
