PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display optical system which displays specified information in the visual field of an observation optical system for observing light from an object through an eyepiece and is capable of displaying the specified information in the wide range of the visual field of the observation optical system with a compact and simple constitution, and to provide a finder optical system. SOLUTION: A display optical system 2 for displaying the specified information in the visual field of the observation optical system 1 for observing the light from the object through an eyepiece 6 has a display means 8 for displaying the specified information, light guide means 9 and 10 for guiding light from the display means 8, and a composing means 7 for superposing the light guided by the light guide means 9 and 10 on the light from the object. The composing means 7 is constituted of an optical prism having a wavelength selection part A and having no refractive power for the optical system 1, and arranged near or in the eyepiece 6.
