PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the use of a cutting device for excavating a trench underground, for the broadest possible application. SOLUTION: This cutting device for excavating a trench underground is provided with at least one rotationally drivable cutting wheel 12. The cutting wheel 12 is provided with a first cutting element 16 for removing soil during rotation in one rotating direction of the cutting wheel, and a second cutting element 18 for removing soil in an opposite rotating direction. The first cutting element 16 and the second cutting element 18 are symmetrically arranged with respect to a pivot shaft 45 of a lever 5. The cutting elements 16, 18 can be displaced in a first position to remove soil and a drawn-in second position by the drive of the lever. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
