PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for quickly isomerizing a cis-cyclohexylbenzene derivative to a trans-cyclohexylbenzene derivative in high yield without eliminating the substituents on the benzene ring. SOLUTION: The method contains a step to isomerize a cis-cyclohexylbenzene derivative of the formula (R<SB>1</SB>is an alkyl or phenyl; R<SB>2</SB>is methyl, methoxy, a halogen, nitro or H; and R<SB>3</SB>and R<SB>4</SB>are each independently H, a halogen or methyl) to a trans-cyclohexylbenzene derivative by treating a mixture of cis-and trans-cyclohexylbenzene derivatives with an acid selected from organic acids, inorganic acids and lithium halides.
