PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use an opposed 2-spindle lathe, respectively attaching work gripping means to opposed end portions of a first main spindle and a second main spindle, also for a tailstock machining lathe equipped with a tailstock device. SOLUTION: In the opposed 2-spindle lathe, the work gripping means 8, 9 are respectively attached to the opposed end portions of the first main spindle 2 and the second main spindle 4 that are concentrically disposed and independently driven to rotate. At least the second main spindle 4 is supported so as to reciprocate in an axial direction.
