PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To roast various sorts of foods such as meats, marine products and vegetables in a short time and provide a soft and juicy texture in and flavor which the conventional technique cannot provide. SOLUTION: This far-infrared type roaster is provided with a far-infrared heater 1 of a ceramic single body or formed by laminating and covering a metal with a ceramic and performs a desired heating cooking by irradiating the far-infrared ray from the far-infrared heater to the foods. The far-infrared heater is formed into a flat or curved panel shape and installed in the upper part of the foods. A light guide reflecting plate 4, which is so designed as to effectively apply the far-infrared ray on the foods below it, is provided in the rear surface and/or the side surface of the far-infrared heater. A reflecting mechanism 3 which upward reflects the far-infrared ray radiated from the far-infrared heater to head it for the foods and the far-infrared heater again, improves the far-infrared ray irradiation efficiency to the foods and eliminates smoke generation is provided below the foods facing the far infrared heater.
