<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device to which a light controlling mirror layer containing hydrides of rare earth metals such as a magnesium-nickel system alloy thin film is applied and which has a simple structure, satisfactory accuracy and excellent reliability of operation. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical device, a light incident part 2 into which light is made incident, light exiting parts 3 and 4 from which light exits and a light controlling mirror layer 5 whose physical property is converted into a mirror surface film and a transparent film are provided at a prism (a base body) 1 through which light can pass. When the physical property of the light controlling mirror layer 5 is converted into the mirror surface film, light made incident from the light incident part 2 is reflected by the mirror surface film to reach the light exiting part 3 and when the physical property of the light controlling mirror layer 5 is converted into the transparent film, the light is transmitted through the transparent film to reach the light exiting part 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
