STAIN-PROOF LAMINATE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR, AND POLARIZING PLATE AND IMAGE DISPLAY UNIT USING THE LAMINATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stain-proof laminate with excellent water repellency, stain-proof property and easy stain removability, and a manufacturing method therefor, and a polarizing plate and a visual display unit using the laminate.

SOLUTION: This stain-proof laminate comprises a substrate, a metallic compound layer formed on the substrate by plasma treatment in nitrogen gas as a main component at an atmospheric pressure or a near its pressure and a layer composed of silicon (Si), oxygen (O) and carbon (C) on the metallic compound layer. The ratio of them (Si:O:C) is 1.0:(1.0 to 1.5):(1.1 to 20) and the latter layer has a mass spectrometric analysis value at its surface of >4.5 of I43.00/I44.98by a static secondary ion mass spectrometry.
