<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the manufacturing cost of an automatic opening/closing device for a vehicle, and to reduce the weight of the automatic opening/closing device for a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: A sliding mechanism for a power back door mechanism has a rail bracket and an outer rack 43. The outer rack 43 has a rack member 67 on which a rack gear 71 is formed, and three sliding members 68 which are fitted on the rail bracket in a manner to be freely reciprocative. The rack member 67 is formed into a shape with an L-shaped cross section having a bent part 73 which bends in the axial direction by bending, after stamping a steel plate. The sliding members 68 are respectively formed into a shape with an approximate C-shaped cross section, of which the length dimension is sufficiently shorter than the rack member 67 by extruding an aluminum material.
