<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stroboscopic photography system capable of optimally controlling electronic flash light emission according to the accuracy of distance information. <P>SOLUTION: The stroboscopic photography system has a photometry means to perform the photometry of reflected light from a subject by preliminary light emission in a plurality of divided areas, a subject distance detection means, distance accuracy discriminating means (#111-#117), a 1st arithmetic means (#121) to calculate a proper photometry level from a subject distance detected by the subject distance detection means, a 2nd arithmetic means (#121) to arithmetically calculate a distinguishing level for distinguishing an abnormal reflection area based on the proper photometry level and distance accuracy set according to the result of discrimination by the distance accuracy discriminating means, a discriminating means (#121) to discriminate the abnormal reflection area by comparing photometric values in a plurality of areas with the distinguishing level, and a 3rd arithmetic means to calculate the photometric value of the reflected light from the subject in the area excepting the abnormal reflection area from a plurality of areas.
