PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a recording and reproducing device capable of simply retrieving each of two or more programs continuously recorded in video programs by automatically dividing the program into the contents and recording information being recorded in video for creating a recording history, when each program comes to an end, in the case of continuously two or more programs recorded in video. SOLUTION: A program information requesting part 107 requests presently recorded program information from a program information supply server 111 present on the Internet; a termination detecting part 110 detects that the termination time information obtained from the program information supply server 111 coincides with the present time from a clock part 101; based on the result, a control part 104 is a division instruction to a recording and reproducing part 105 and an information storage part 106 recording information in video; and history management of the video-recording program is performed; and thus, it becomes possible to retrieve each of the programs continuously recorded in video.
