PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measurement device with a simple structure which can exactly measure the distance to a target. SOLUTION: In the distance measurement device, the amplitude of sum signal 203 (S1+S2) output from an adder 105 and the amplitude of the difference signal 204 (S1-S2) output from a subtracter 106 form a standing wave having a variable of the distance from a reference point 8 to a prism 4. A distance operator 111 corrects the amplitudes of the sum signal 203 and the difference signal 204 input from both amplitude detector 107 and 108 based on the amplitude of a reference signal 201 (S1) and a measured signal 202 (S2) input from amplitude detectors 109 and 110. The distance operator 111 calculates by comparison, the sum signal 203 and the difference signal 204 and calculates the distance to the prism 4 exactly. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
