PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detector that can be miniaturized for detecting the relative positions of two members. SOLUTION: The position detector comprises: a detection substrate (3) that is provided at one of the two members, forms a plurality of electrodes on both surfaces, and connects respective electrodes on both the surfaces via a through hole; and a plurality of detection contact pieces (4) that are provided at one member that can travel to the other member and slide on one surface of a detection substrate according to the travel of the other member. A plurality of electrodes formed on one surface of the detection substrate are arranged so that they contact different electrodes according to the travel position of the other member of each detection contact piece in a plurality of detection contact pieces.
