PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform installation and maintenance at a low cost with space saving. SOLUTION: This safety device for a lift comprises a plurality of chains for driving a base of a stair lift; detecting levers 14, 15 provided for each chain and rotated by cutting of the chains; safety members which are an eccentric cam 16 engaged with a rail 2 of the stair lift 1 by rotation of the detecting levers 14, 15 or a lever for a switch 18 for inputting an emergency stop switch of the stair lift 1 by the rotation of the detecting levers 14, 15. The detecting levers 14, 15 and the safety members are penetrated through a common shaft 12. The safety members are integrally fixed on the shaft 12. A roll pin 54, screws 90, 90 or the like are integrally provided in the shaft 12. Long holes 49 or the like, 52 of which lengths are allowed to move the roll pin 54 or the screws 90, 90 or the like by the rotation are provided for the detecting levers 14, 15.
