The console (100) has a L-shaped base part of which one arm (5) is fixed on the chassis or other part of the vehicle structure and the second arm (5') supports the assembly (9). The two arms are made from sections of a metal U-profile and the two sections forming the arms are rigidly connected to the edge webs (27,28) through flat T-shaped or L-shaped connecting yokes which bear on the outside or inside against the edge webs. The connecting yokes are attached to the edge webs through bolt connectors.
