<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an receiver element for thermal dye transfer process, which is excellent in dye capture amount, image dye stability and retransfer resistance. <P>SOLUTION: This image recording element includes a substrate wherein an image-receiving layer including a polyester is provided on one side. The polyester includes (a) a dibasic acid-derived unit and a polyol-derived unit, and the at least 50 mol% dibasic acid-derived unit includes dicarboxylic acid-derived units which each contain an alicyclic ring. Additionally, (b) the 25-75 mol% polyol-derived unit contains an aromatic ring which is not directly adjacent to each hydroxyl group of a corresponding polyol. Furthermore, (c) the 25-75 mol% polyol-derived unit of the polyester includes a 4-10C alicyclic ring. The image recording element includes (d) a total of at least 0.1 mol% of a unit (i) derived from a polyfunctional polyol with three hydroxyl groups or more and/or a unit (ii) derived from a polyacid with three carboxylic groups or more (including derivatives of them). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
