PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a prepreg unaffected by outside temperature changes and constantly uniform in the resin content provided through application/impregnation, with its surface quite smooth and its thickness uniform. SOLUTION: The prepreg is prepared by a method wherein a substrate 2 is impregnated with a resin composition 1 through application/impregnation, is fed in the direction of its length through between a pair of scraping tools 3 for scraping off the resin composition in the direction of its width, and then is heated in a drier 4 until it is semihardened. The scraping tool 3 is a roller which has a roughly round cross section and has an approximately fan-shaped notch 7 that extends throughout its whole length. The two scraping tools 3 are arranged with the notches 7 facing each other, and are kept at a specified temperature when the substrate 2 is let through between the two scraping tools 3.
