PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To refer not only to an individual face image but also to a face image of a suspicious person in personal authentication. SOLUTION: In this personal authentication device for authenticating a user's identification comprises a photographing part for photographing a face of the user, a specific person comparison part comparing the user's face image taken by the photographing part with a previously held specific person face image, a personal image acquisition part for acquiring the personal face image from the storage device, and an authentication part for determining whether the face image of the user photographed by the photographing part and the face image acquired by the personal image acquisition part belong to the same person or not by different determination methods based on the comparison result by the specific person comparison part.
