An emergency release assembly for use with a door (20). Wherein the assembly comprises a latch mechanism (44) operative in a first state to retain the door (20) in a closed position and a second position which allows the door (20) to be moved open. The assembly further comprises a release mechanism (64) operative to advance the latch mechanism (44) from the first state to the second state. The release mechanism (44) including a reciprocating member, a push bar (68), a link member (70), and a catch member.
