<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reforming apparatus in which a hydrogen-enriched reformed gas used for the operation of a fuel cell or the like is efficiently produced and which has excellent temperature controllability of a catalyst layer. <P>SOLUTION: A 1st reforming catalyst layer R1 composed of a noble metal catalyst and a 2nd reforming catalyst layer R2 composed of a non-noble metal catalyst are arranged. A main vessel part 2A housing the 2nd catalyst layer R2 and a downstream side catalyst layer Rb for reducing CO concentration and equipped with a main heater 3 is positioned and an auxiliary vessel part 2B housing the 1st catalyst layer R1 and equipped with an auxiliary heater H is arranged outside of the main vessel part 2A. Switching means 10, 11, ra and rb for selectively switching a supply state of raw fuel GG to and from the supply state for start-up operation to pass the raw fuel GG with an oxidizing agent gas A3 through the 1st, the 2nd catalyst layer R1 and R2 and the downstream side catalyst layer Rb in this order and the supply state for normal operation to pass the raw fuel GG with steam S through the 2nd catalyst layer R2 and the downstream side catalyst layer Rb in this order while by-passing the 1st catalyst layer R1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
