PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a propulsion device for a shield boring machine capable of more effectively preventing the damage in a segment resulting from deflection of a rod of a shield jack. SOLUTION: In the propulsion device for the shield boring machine making the shield boring machine drive forward by abutting the rod 3 of the shield jack 1 against the existing segment S through an eccentric hardware 4 extended to the radial outside of a shield frame 51, when the rod 3 is bent to the radial outside of the shield frame 51 by reaction force received from the segment S, the shield jack 1 is provided in the direction of the radius of the shield frame 51 in a movable manner so that the shield jack 1 can be swung in the radial direction of the shield frame 51 at the approximately same angle.
