PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stair elevator with increased safety. SOLUTION: This stair elevator 1 is provided with a foot loading base 71 for riding while standing or a simple seat 64 for riding while seated which elevate and lower along a rail 2 and guard bars 22, 26 capable of advancing and retracting for the surroundings on at least lower side of a story of a user H standing on the foot loading base 71 or sitting on the simple seat 64.
