PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal system and a driver which realize automatic data communication in accordance with the type of a network only by making an operator designate a telephone number and realize transmission of image data with higher quality to the opposite party when transmitting the image data through an IP network. SOLUTION: This communication terminal system 1 judges whether the telephone number of the opposite transmission party of original data is for a public network or for an IP network, establishes connection with the opposite device 19 by a call control protocol to request the opposite device 19 to present communication procedures and data formats which can be used by the opposite device 19 when the telephone number of the opposite party is judged to be for an IP network, selects an available communication procedure and data format from the communication procedures and data formats presented from the opposite device 19, and transmits original data to the opposite device 19 on the connection by the selected communication procedure.
