METHOD FOR PRODUCING MESITYLENE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing mesitylene using pseudocumene as a raw material without using other chemical products. SOLUTION: Mesitylene is produced by solely using pseudocumene as the raw material without using other chemical products and continuously operating in a condition of 225-400°C temperature, 1-50 bar pressure and 0.1-10hr-1weight space velocity in the presence of a zeolite-containing catalyst. The catalyst is selected from a ZSM-5 zeolite having crystal lattices based on silicon oxide and aluminum oxide, and a modified ZSM-5 zeolite in which Si is partially or totally substituted with a tetravalent element such as Ti, Ge or the like and/or Al is substituted with another trivalent element such as Ga, B or the like.
