A high frequency base material consisting of a PTFE carrier layer (8) coated on at least one side with a metal layer (9) and having thickness of d1 = 25-127 micron. The metal layer is made of copper having thickness of d2= 2-35 micron applied electrochemically by a plasma process. The roughness or penetration depth of the metal layer into the activated carrier layer is 2-3 micron.
