In a compressor, a discharge valve mechanism (40) is provided with plural discharge openings (29a, 29b), and a different number of discharge openings (29a, 29b) is opened depending on the pressure and flow rate of a gas discharged from a compression chamber (25). This structure enables, when the compressor is operated under variable displacement control, loss caused by over compression to be minimized from a small to a large capacity range and operating efficiency of the compressor to be enhanced.
