<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring apparatus in which image data can be confirmed at the location of visit by appropriately accessing even when notice information reporting a sensed moving object can not be received on a cellular phone or the like, and image data picked up originally during the absence are protected by making the new recorded image as the rewrite target when storage capacity is full. <P>SOLUTION: A simplified memory 60 erases latest image data to rewrite and stores new image data. Temporally former image data are image data actually during the absence so that its significance is high. Therefore, rewriting is performed inversely to the conventional FIFO principles.
