<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable operation of a plurality of control execution stations controlling a plurality of controlled devices under stable environment when a failure occurs in a monitor control station submitting control instructions to the plurality of control execution stations. <P>SOLUTION: This distributed control system has: a plurality of monitor control stations (OPSs) 1-1 to 1-M each diagnosed with the presence/absence of its own failure; and the plurality of control execution stations (CNSs) 2-1 to 2-N executed with the instructions of control by the monitor station, controlling the controlled devices. The OPS having no failure is set to a master OPS to each CNS, and another OPS having no failre as the result of the diagnosis is selected as the next master OPS to each CNS.
