PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the catching strength of a lock body in a locked position. SOLUTION: The valve timing control device is constructed so that the relative rotational phase between a driving side rotating member 2 rotating in synchronization with a crankshaft and a driven side rotating member 1 disposed coaxially with the driving side rotating member 2 and rotating integrally with a camshaft may be variably controlled, and provided with a lock body 60 which is freely changeable between a locked position restraining the relative rotation between both rotating members 1, 2 by protruding from one of both rotating members 1, 2 to the other by the action of a pressing means 100 for locking and an unlocked position permitting the relative rotation between both rotating members 1, 2 by withdrawing from one of both rotating members 1, 2 to the other by the action of a pressing means 200 for unlocking.
