The stair component (22) comprises a step and a riser (14,16) and a thrust edge (20). It also comprises a metal profile (24) covering at least the thrust edge and having a coating (28) drawn over it. The metal profile is of one-piece construction and completely covers the thrust edge, the step and the riser. On the thrust edge side the metal profile projects, and on the step side is covered with a drawn-over noise-absorbing coating (30) made of cork. The metal profile (24) is an extruded press profile, a hollow chamber profile or a stay profile with broadened locating surfaces on the stair step side.
