MOBILE GENETIC ELEMENTS BELONGING TO THE MARINER FAMILY IN HYDROTHERMAL EUKARYOTES

The invention relates to isolated nucleic acids in hydrothermal eukaryotic organisms, said nucleic acids comprising at least one mobile genetic element belonging to the mariner family, or comprising particular regions of one such element, such as the gene encoding the transposase and/or the 5' and 3' ends required for transposition. The invention also relates to a transposase coded by a gene which is supported by or isolated from one such mobile genetic element, as well as to a method of producing said transposase. The invention further relates to in vitro and in vivo transposition methods and to applications of said methods in the biotechnology field.
