<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source unit for an image recording apparatus which is used on the premise that it dissipates its own heat through an air-cooling system, and which is superior in assembling workability, cooled down enough through an air-cooling system, and capable of keeping LD light sources at a certain temperature or below. <P>SOLUTION: An image recording apparatus light source unit is equipped with a large number of LD light sources 48 which are densely arranged on a heat sink 58 in its lengthwise direction, grouped into odd-numbered ones and even-numbered ones, offset in the direction of an optical axis, and disposed zigzag. By this setup, the temperature distribution regions 48A produced by the heat released from the LD light sources 48 can be made to less overlap with each other, the temperature variation in the heat sink 58 can be eliminated, which is caused by the fact that the adjacent LD light sources 48 have their influence on each other and that the temperature distribution regions 48A overlap with each other, and the LD light sources 48 can be uniformly kept at the prescribed or a lower temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
