PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control valve type lead-acid storage battery of a structure in which a safety valve will not come off from a safety valve cylinder after a chemical treatment of a battery case. SOLUTION: The safety valve 11 shaped like a cap having a head part 20 and a mounting part 21 is mounted to the L-shaped safety valve cylinder 14. A cone-shaped slope 15 and a hole part are provided at a bottom face 16 of a safety valve part. Then, after a chemical treatment of the battery case, the L-shaped safety valve cylinder 14 having the safety valve 11 is insertion-coupled with the hole part, so as to have a tip of the L-shaped safety valve cylinder 14 directed almost in a vertical direction. Here, the mounting part 21 is kept to be mounted to the L-shaped safety valve cylinder 14, even if the head part 20 of the safety valve 11 is in a state of contacting with a wall face 19 with the inside of the battery pressurized.
