PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image display device which can be manufactured at a low cost and by which a change of a sound can be visually perceived, even under the condition that the sound is not heard or can be hardly heard. SOLUTION: The image display device includes a microphone for inputting the sound of an outdoor, a sound signal converting means for converting a sound signal into a non-character image signal corresponding to the strength of the sound signal, and a display means for displaying a non-character image signal as a non-character image. The sound of the outdoor is displayed in a time passage manner by a polygonal line graph 101, etc. as the non-character image (virtual image 100) corresponding to the intensity of the sound of the outdoor.
