PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an induction motor having a structure capable of curtailing force in the thrust direction of a rotor caused by skewing and to curtail vibration and noise. SOLUTION: A rotor iron core 5 and a stator iron core 2 are formed by laminating magnetic steel sheets. The stacking thickness of the stator iron core 2 is made larger than that of the rotor iron core 5. Specifically, the ratio of the lamination thickness of the stator iron core 2 to that of the rotor iron core 5 is made to become within the range of 1.15 to 1.25. Also, deviation of the center position of the rotor iron core 5 in the direction of a rotating shaft 4 to that of the stator iron core 2 is made smaller than a value that is obtained by multiplying the lamination thickness of the stator iron core 2 by 0.04.
