PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load to one registrar for domain name registration. SOLUTION: A domain application programming interface (API) is used as an interface between one or a plurality of clients and a plurality of registrars, or providers. When a requested domain name is not available, the domain API returns an alternative domain name. Besides, the domain API implements failover between registrars.
