Method for detecting the sequence of bogies in a train (10) that comprises a number of wagons or carriages (12) each with two or more bogies or wheel sets (14, 15). Accordingly each wheel set has an identification marker that are used to form a data packet with an original data packet transmitted from a central point (26) to a first wheel set. The data packet is expanded by the addition of an identifier from each wheel set and finally transmitted from the last wheel set back to the central control point. An independent claim is made for a device for detecting a wheel set sequence in a train.
