PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct slip control of a forward clutch on a power transmission passage between an engine and drive wheels when input torque of a transmission is instantaneously fluctuating for effectively improving drivability. SOLUTION: In an automatic transmission provided with the forward clutch on the power transmission passage between the engine and the drive wheels, when it is determined that the input torque of the transmission is instantaneously fluctuating based on change of throttle opening ¾Δtvo¾ at other time than speed change, the clutch is controlled to make a prescribed slip state.
