PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data-processing device and its method for enabling a production source of contents data to be specified with high reliability. SOLUTION: In a communication system 1, a digital camera 3 adds its device ID and a public key certificate data PKC containing public key certificate data PK_DC to imaged data and then provide a reproducing unit 5 or the like with the imaged data. After verifying the correctness of the public key certificate data PKC or the like added to the imaged data, the reproducing unit 5 or the like performs reproduction. Based on the device ID inside the public key certificate data PKC, the reproducing unit 5 or the like can specify the digital camera 3 that is the production source of the imaged data.
