PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make stretching of a belt device efficient, save space, and prevent scratch on the surface of an intermediate transfer body, thereby improving the durability of the belt. SOLUTION: An intermediate transfer belt 10 is bent from its image formation side by a tension roller 103, thereby changing a conveyance path. The tension roller 103 is disposed on the upstream side of a secondary transfer roller 23 and belt cleaning members (fur brush 105 and a cleaning blade 104) in the conveying direction of the intermediate transfer belt 10, so that toner hardly sticks to the tension roller 103. Accordingly, the intermediate transfer belt 10 is prevented from being scratched by the projection of sticking toner.
