<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving apparatus which enables a circuit scale to be reduced in radio communication fields such as an automobile telephone, portable telephone and wireless LAN. <P>SOLUTION: In the receiving apparatus provided with a soft determination processing part 5 for calculating a soft determination value for each bit with respect to a signal resulting from demodulating a signal modulated by a multilevel QAM system, the soft determination processing part is provided with: an MSB soft determination part 14 for calculating a soft determination value of MSB with an amplitude value of a demodulated symbol as a degree of reliability when a received signal point (demodulated symbol) is within the range of a predetermined threshold found on the basis of a demodulated signal and for calculating a soft determination value of MSB with a value subtracting a minimum signal point distance from the double amplitude value of the demodulated symbol as a degree of reliability when the demodulated symbol is out of the range of the predetermined threshold on the other hand; and an LSB soft determination part 15 for calculating a soft determination value of LSB with a distance between the demodulated symbol and the predetermined threshold as a degree of reliability. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
