PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat battery that can suppress occurrence of internal short circuit. SOLUTION: This is a battery in which a power generation element 104 of nearly rectangular plate shape in which electrode plates of a positive electrode 108 and a negative electrode 110 are arranged opposed to each other through a separator is covered and enclosed by the outer package 101 of film shape. In the power generation element 104, the end part of the electrode plates is bending deformed inward at least at one corner, and spacers 111(A) or 111(B) are adhered to the power generation element so as to go along the shape of the above deformation.
