PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery having a negative electrode lead capable of being stably welded. SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte battery is composed by housing a positive electrode 2, a negative electrode 1 and a nonaqueous electrolyte in a battery can 5. The negative electrode lead 11 for connecting the negative electrode 1 to the battery can 5 is formed by coating copper with a nickel film, and its Vickers hardness is 80 to 100. Elongation of the negative electrode lead 11 is 4-20%. The thickness of the nickel film is 1-5μm. The copper for the negative electrode lead is obtained by rolling a round copper wire to form it into a straight angle wire and by heat-treating it. The nickel film is formed by a plating method.
