PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stencil printing apparatus which can restrain troubles with high accuracy caused by disturbance on an ink surface state on the inner peripheral surface of a plate cylinder such as a striped pattern or the like, even if left standing for a long time, and can obtain a favorable printed matter from a first printing. SOLUTION: A coating roller 22, with its rotary shaft 22a supported by a long hole 6a, is rotatably provided on side plates 6 which rotatably support an ink roller 2. The coating roller 22 is, urged downward by a spring 31, set to an abutting position where the coating roller is in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the plate cylinder 1 and the ink layer of an ink roller 2. When the printing is completed, the plate cylinder 1 is allowed to run idle by a prescribed number of times and causes the coating roller 22 to drivenly rotate, thereby smoothing out the ink surface of the inner peripheral surface of the plate cylinder 1. When the smoothing out step is completed, the coating roller 22 is lifted with a solenoid 30 to a retracted position where the coating roller 22 is not brought into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the plate cylinder 1 and the ink roller 2.
