PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge tube with improved life characteristics. SOLUTION: The discharge tube 10 has formed an air tight envelope 16, of which, openings at both ends of a case member 12 made of an insulating material having both ends open are airtightly sealed by a pair of lid members 14, 14 serving also as discharge electrodes, and a prescribed discharge gap 22 between discharge electrode parts 18, 18 of the lid members 14, 14. A plurality of trigger discharge films 28 with both ends arranged so as to face the lid parts 14, 14 serving as discharge electrodes with a very small discharge gap 26 are arranged on an inner wall surface of the case member 12, and an insulating film 30 containing alkaline iodide is formed on the surface of the discharge electrode parts 18.
