PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developer which excellently disperses and re-disperses toner particles, shows favorable fluidity during transport, has high storage stability and is capable of stably forming a high-quality image for a long time, and to provide its manufacturing method, a method for forming an image by using the liquid developer, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The liquid developer contains toner particles and a carrier liquid. The carrier liquid contains: silicone oil having at least one optional group selected from the group consisting of a mercapto group, amino group, carboxyl group, alkoxy group, hydroxyl group and glycidyl group; and an organic aluminum compound expressed by a specified formula, or an organic aluminum compound prepared by substituting part or the whole bonds of the organic aluminum compound expressed by the specified formula for acetylacetonate, or a mixture of them.
