PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera equipment comprising a collapsible optical system, capable of significantly shortening a start-up time for initialization of the optical system before starting control of the equipment as a whole. SOLUTION: At start-up after a power supply has been turned on, a CPU5 makes a zooming motor 14 start extending of a lens group 11 before controlling the entire equipment, based on a prescribed program stored in a flash memory 41. After that, during the extension of the lens group 11, loading of a prescribed program as well as control preparation for the entire equipment, based on it, are started in parallel. Meanwhile, if a battery voltage falls to a prescribed value or lower during that period, a sub CPU44 that controls a power supply cuts into the CPU5 from the outside, and the CPU5 recognizes the shortage of a remaining battery capacity, based on the occurrence of the external interruption. So, an accurate remaining capacity of the battery is confirmed, while a high load is applied during the lens group 11 is driven, and the initialization of the lens group 11 can be performed parallel to other initializations.
